Q.What's the difference between Level 2 and Level 3 chargers?
Level 2 chargers send AC power to the car, and the car’s onboard charger converts it to DC for the battery. EVmode Level 2 chargers deliver 11.5kW to 19.2kW, ideal where cars park for a while: homes, workplaces, multifamily properties and hotels. Level 3 DC fast chargers convert power inside the charger and deliver 120kW to 400kW straight to the battery, ideal for highway corridors, charging hubs and fleet depots.
Q.What certifications do EVmode chargers have?
EVmode’s US chargers are UL and CSA listed (for example UL 2594 for Level 2 and UL 2202 for Level 3) and meet FCC Part 15. Our Level 3 chargers are also listed for ENERGY STAR, NTEP and CTEP. Our chargers have official OCPP 1.6 certification from the Open Charge Alliance. See each product’s spec table on our products page.
Q.Do EVmode chargers support NACS?
Yes. Our Level 3 DC fast chargers come with CCS1 + NACS connector options, and the 55” dual signage charger is available with J1772 or NACS. NACS for the Level 2 charger is coming soon.
Q.Can the chargers be installed outdoors?
Yes. EVmode Level 2 chargers are NEMA 4X rated for fully outdoor use, and our Level 3 chargers are rated NEMA 3R/IK10 or IP55, operating from -31°F to 122°F.
Installation
Q.How does installation work?
It typically goes: consultation, site assessment (location and electrical capacity), quote, installation and commissioning, then setup in the EVmode CSMS. Send us a quote request and our team will recommend the right setup for your site.
Q.What should I prepare before installation?
It helps to know where the chargers will go and how many parking spaces, your building’s electrical service capacity, and whether the chargers will be public or private (for residents, employees or fleet vehicles only). We’ll help with anything you’re not sure about.
Charging & Payment
Q.How can drivers pay?
Drivers can pay with a credit card (tap, swipe or chip on Level 3 chargers), the EVmode app, a QR code, or an RFID card. Level 2 chargers also offer a guest web portal, so drivers can pay without signing up.
Q.Who do I contact if there's a problem with a charger?
Open a ticket at our support center or email info@evmode.com. Because we can check charger status remotely in the CSMS, many issues are fixed without a site visit.
CSMS & App
Q.What can I do with the EVmode CSMS?
The EVmode CSMS is a cloud platform for monitoring charger status and sessions in real time, diagnosing and fixing problems remotely, and managing pricing, revenue and usage statistics per site. It runs in any web browser and supports 9 languages. Learn more on the EVmode CSMS page.
Q.Is there an app for drivers?
Yes. With the EVmode Smartphone App, drivers can find chargers, start a session, pay and check their charging history.
